Mr. Matthew Brotherton (Mr. B)
Mr. Matthew Brotherton (Mr. B) is from Catawba, North Carolina, graduating from Bandys High School and later Western Carolina University where he received his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science in Music Education K-12. During his time at WCU, he was a staff member for the “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band and played an integral part of their 2018, 2019, and 2020 productions, including their participation in the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He was also on staff for the “Catamount Singers and Electric Soul” ensemble, as well as a member of various percussion and indoor band activities. He is an alumnus of Winter Guard International, performing with the Concord, NC-based Revelation Percussion, Inc.
Mr. B has been teaching percussion for 7 years and writes music for middle and high school percussion sections across NC, SC, and GA. He is in his third year as Music Teacher for Dudley Shoals Elementary in Granite Falls, NC. Mr. B holds memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the North Carolina Music Educators Association, The Percussive Arts Society, and the National Association of Rudimental Drumming.
When he's not teaching, Mr. B enjoys watching Disney Movies and reading, as well as spending time with family, friends and his animals. He is the proud owner of a dog (Penelope) and two cats (Ginny and Wanda).
