My name is Vicky Cornett and this is my 4th year as the Digital Learning/Media Specialist at Dudley Shoals Elementary! This is my 18th year at DSES. I taught Kindergarten for two years, 2nd grade for five years, and 4th grade for seven years. I have lived in Caldwell County all of my life except for four years when my husband was in the military. In fact, I was a student at the old Dudley Shoals Elementary when I was a child.

I currently live in the Grace Chapel area with my husband, Daryl, and our dog, Charly. I have two children, Tyler and Emily. My son, Tyler, is the Soil and Water Conservationist in Alexander County and lives with his wife, Hope, and their sweet baby, Ellis (my first grandchild!) in Hudson, NC. My daughter, Emily, lives in an apartment in our basement with her dog, Moose. She graduated from Southeastern University in April of 2023 with a degree in Ministerial Leadership with a concentration in Worship Studies. She serves as Worship Coordinator at Soma Church in Hickory.

I am very much connected to the Dudley Shoals community and take great pride in working with the children here. When I went back to school to teach, I had the opportunity to work in many schools and I still feel that there is no place like Dudley Shoals Elementary! I look forward to seeing your child in the library this year!
