Welcome to Lower Creek Elementary

The city of Lenoir is a small town flavored with a strong heritage of history and art that are showcased through seasonal festivals and concerts.  Nestled in the shadow of the Blueridge Mountains, Lenoir captures the essence of all four seasons. Lower Creek is a township within the city of Lenoir with a population of less than 12,000.  It boasts small friendly neighborhoods and supportive community businesses surrounding the Lower Creek Elementary School, which opened its doors in September of 1951.

Since that year, the school has undergone many structural changes of improvement, however the traditions and community values continue to resonate through the hallways.  These hallways are marked with bright yellow and green cougar paws, set in the floor tiles to direct the student pathways. Kindergarten through fifth grade students are served within its walls.  With a student population size of under 400, class size is kept to a low teacher student ratio. Within the school property is a school gym, two computer labs, two outdoor classroom spaces, a recess field, playground, and a ballfield stadium.  Across the road from the school is Lower Creek Baptist Church, which partners with the school throughout the year to provide space and equipment for concerts and events.

Lower Creek Elementary School has a mission to develop life-long learners and responsible citizens by providing a safe environment that focuses on the success of each child.  We believe in the importance of supporting curriculum with integration through engineering, technology, and the arts. We sponsor “No-Backpack-Days” several times throughout the school year as guest presenters sponsor hands-on activities related to science, technology, engineering, agriculture, visual arts, math and music.  Daily students rotate to Encore classes of technology, media, visual arts, drama, music, dance, and physical fitness. All staff are trained in designing interventions to strengthen academic gaps and to foster positive behaviors. Our school counselor and support staff deliver whole group character lessons to promote social and emotional learning and resilience.  Our staff embrace teaching of the whole child in academics, character, and healthy choices with a goal of developing a deep love of learning to guide each student towards a successful future.  

We believe that it is vital to discover how each individual student learns, and to communicate consistently with each parent in order for students to reach their full potential each year in academic, social and emotional growth.
