National Museum of Natural History Virtual Tour
-
During this session, you will be preparing for your visit to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. We will be visiting a lot of places in a short period of time. We want to give you the chance to get the most out of your visit to this museum by mapping out a route of exhibits to see in our time there.First step is for you to get a copy of the museum map and open it with Doc Hub from your Google Drive. Click here to get your copy.Second step is for you to go through the virtual tour of the museum with 2 tasks. (You will have 15 minutes to complete these tasks.)
- "Visit" various exhibits looking for informational text that you would like to read to learn more about. When you find an exhibit like this, mark it on your map with the letters ELA. Once you have found 5 locations like this, move on to task 2.
- "Visit" various exhibits looking for evidence related to the evolution of living organisms. When you find an exhibit like this, mark it on your map with the letters SCI. Your goal is to find 5 of these types of exhibits before your time is up.
Third step is for you to turn and compare maps with the other people at your table. Work together to mark 3 locations of each type on your paper map that could be visited in an efficient path. Once you mark the location, draw a line starting at the museum entrance and continue to each point and then to the museum exit. You will have 15 minutes to complete this task. This should give you time to compare and discuss the locations the people of your table found in Step 2.
