Emily Taylor
Hello! My name is Emily Taylor and I am the music teacher at Bethel Elementary. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2019, and am currently in my fourth year of teaching. I have earned all three of my certifications in Orff-Schulwerk. Orff-Schulwerk is an elementary specific approach or philosophy of teaching music which encourages imitation and exploration among students to further their music education. The Orff-Schulwerk utilizes singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, creating, speaking, and improvising to improve musical skills in multiple aspects. I have attended many classes on methods of teaching elementary general music and am certified in writing and arranging full orchestrations for elementary music classes. My primary instrument is the flute, but I also play multiple percussion instruments, recorder, and ukulele.
I recently moved to Stanfield, NC. I was heavily involved in band throughout middle school, high school, and college. I was a member of the Marching Tar Heels and played in many of the bands on campus, including the wind ensemble, UNC flute choir, symphony band, and UNC Charanga. I decided I wanted to be a music teacher when I was only in 6th grade, and I now devote my time to discovering new ways to better teach elementary aged students, learning new instruments, watching Disney movies and taking care of my dog Ollie.
