THE BIG PICTURE OF RUNNING OPPORTUNITIES IN BRIGHTON

    There are many opportunities for children of all ages to explore running in Brighton.  Here is a big picture view of  programs available.

     

     

     

     

    STUDENTS AT TWELVE CORNERS MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES 7-8 

    Fall Modified Cross Country Team - Modified meets are a 1.5 mile race until the Seneca Invite which is 2 miles and that continues to the end of the season.  Students will receive preseason meeting information during homeroom morning show.  *See note below

    Spring Modified Track and Field Team  - Track and field athletics is a collection of events that involve running,  throwing, and jumping. Season begins first week of March.  Students will receive preseason meeting information during homeroom morning show.  *See note below

     

     

    STUDENTS AT BRIGHTON HIGH SCHOOL GRADES 9-12

    Fall JV and Varsity Cross Country Team - High school pre-season practice begins in mid August.  Meets begin first week of school and are usually 3.1 (5K) and sometimes 3.0. miles on courses spread throughout the county park system. For dual cross country meets an entire team competes at the same time with the top five finishers for each team considered "Varsity" for scoring purposes.  The teams following finishers are considered Junior Varsity. 

    Winter JV and Varsity Indoor Track Team - Season begins in early November and runs until end of February.  Runners practice outside and in school, stretching is done in HS weight room.

    Spring JV and Varsity Track and Field Team - Track and field athletics is a collection of events that involve running,  throwing, and jumping. Season begins in early March and runs until mid June.

    Note for TCMS & BHS Students:

    Cross country and track and field coaches hold a meeting prior to the start of each season to discuss team expectations.  athletes will receive all required documentation and forms at this meeting.  Students at the middle school and high school are advised of preseason meeting dates on the morning show during homeroom. It is the student athletes responsibility to attend the preseason meeting and have all sports documentation and physical exam documentation completed and turned in by required dates.
