Update October 2017
At the Oct. 10, 2017 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved contracts for the Brighton Facilities Improvement Plan.
The Initial Project Budget is $64,996,500. How that money is broken down is listed in the chart below.
The Incidental Budget is $10,316,395. Eighty percent of the incidental budget represents professional service fees.
The contracts for the District’s Architects and Engineers were negotiated on the District’s behalf by Harris Beach, LLC. The architectural contracts are with SWBR for $2,274,000 and SEI Design for $1,934,000. SWBR is doing the Council Rock Primary School construction and SEI is doing the construction at the other three schools. The fees are based on a fixed amount, so there are no contingencies related to budget and time. All base and additional services are detailed in the agreement. Additional services agreed to in the SWBR contracts include costs estimating, interior design, and food service kitchen design.
The construction management contract also was negotiated by Harris Beach. The contract is based on a fixed amount and agreed upon staffing plan. A construction manager oversees the construction work, minimizes any disruption to academic programs, ensures all safety precautions are taken, and makes sure construction workers are installing what was designed. The contract is with Campus Construction for $2,765,500. The amount includes all costs associated with our project services, including staff salaries, benefits, insurance, travel, and contribution to corporate overhead and profit.
Board President Mark Kokanovich said he is very comfortable with the oversight and structure in place for the project and very comfortable with the talent of the District’s outside partners to make this project generational in a way that everyone will be proud of.
