Academic Intervention Services
-
Academic Intervention Services (AIS) are provided within the Response to Intervention (RtI) Framework to children that have been identified as needing extra support in academic areas. Comprehensive RTI implementation helps us to better identify learning issues, improve instructional quality, provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed in school, and assist with the identification of learning disabilities and other disabilities. Response to Intervention is a process where children at risk of not meeting state standards are offered intense, individualized evidence-based intervention. Student progress is monitored. Services are provided using a three-tier system, each one defined by the level of support and the intensity of that support.
- Tier I- Differentiated core instruction provided by the classroom teacher
- Tier II- Academic intervention service delivered by teacher, tutor, and/or academic support instructor.
- Tier III-Intensive academic intervention service needed as a result of lack of progress with tier II intervention.
