Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my goals for this school year. My name is Kim O’Brien, and this is my eighteenth year teaching at Brookside School. I earned a Master of Education degree from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. Through my education and experiences, I have realized the true purpose of education - teaching the whole child.
I look forward to working with the seventh-grade students this year. I believe that I do not teach just Language Arts; I teach children. My goal for this year is to help your child reach his/her highest potential - intellectually and academically, as well as socially and emotionally. I hold high expectations, and I promise to do all I can to help your child meet those expectations. I will strive to give your child my full respect, support, and understanding. From your child, I expect hard work, cooperation, and respect. From you, the most important component in your child’s life, support and involvement are essential. We are a team. Working together and supporting one another will help your child succeed.
I look forward to sharing with you, through notes, phone calls, and conferences, the many experiences that will make this a challenging but fun, exciting, productive year for all of us. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached at kobrien@allendalek8.com.
I hope you’re ready for an outstanding year. I look forward to working with you.
