Lisa Marriotti Wemett
Class: 1976-1980
Sports Played:
Swimming 5 Years
Track 2 Years
College: Monroe Community College- She is recognized as the most dominant female swimmer in the history of the Wellsville High School swim program.
- Holds several pool records in swimming that still exist today for the Wellsville High School swim program
- Recognized as an All American Swimmer her senior year in high school
- Attained All American status for two consecutive years in swimming at Monroe Community College where she still holds 9 pool records
- Coached the Genesee Valley Aquatic Club Swim Team where many of her swimmers went on to become state champions
Shelley Kiefer Chaffee
Class: 1979-1982

College: Buffalo State College- Selected as an all star in all 4 high school sports played
- Recognized as one of the first great female athletes in Wellsville history
- Went on to become a two sport star in college (basketball & softball)
- Currently is continuing to work in the area of athletics as a high school coach
Linda Edgley

College: University of Central Florida- Set the school record for the most goals in one soccer game with 6
- Set the school record for the most goals in a single season with 31
- Was selected as a league All Star in soccer and basketball her senior year
- Scored 34 points in one basketball game which was a school record at the time
- After graduation from high school she has become an outstanding golfer winning several tournaments to date
Jeff Hyslip
Class: 1979-1983

College: Alfred University- Selected to the Big 30 Football All Start Team his junior and senior year in high school
- Holds the current shot put record for the high school track program
- Won the prestigious Olean Jaycees Tournament in Wrestling his senior year
- Played football for four years at Alfred University
- Received a pro football try out with the New England Patriots and the New York Giants
Rick Whitwood
Class: 1979 -1983
Sports Played:
Basketball 4 Years- For his 3 year varsity career he averaged over 17 points per game
- Made the Times Herald Big 30 All Star Team in basketball for 2 years
- Recognized by many as one of the best basketball players to graduate from Wellsville
- He has served the youth of the Wellsville Community very well the past 15 years coaching: Small Court Basketball, Little League Baseball, Midget Football, and Cinderella Softball.
Darrold Brownell
Class: 1980-1984

Football 1 Year- Won 2 consecutive sectional championships in wrestling during his junior and senior years in high school, a feat no other wrestler has accomplished in the history of Wellsville wrestling.
- Has career record in wrestling was outstanding at 122 wins (including 49 pins).
- He was chosen MVP of the soccer team his senior year as well as the “Bill Simons Award” in wrestling the same year.
- Was highly respected by his teammates because of his no nonsense approach and tremendous dedication to excellence.
Kevin Lynch
Class: 1980-1984

Colleges: St. Bonaventure University & R.I.T.- Is recognized as one of the top 5 catchers of all time. 354 career average while having only 3 errors in 44 games
- Hit a massive home run in the 1984 semi finals vs. Mynderse that literally put Wellsville baseball on the map, the shot heard around the world
- As a leader of men he was chosen team captain of his baseball and soccer teams during his senior year
- Went on to play college baseball at Division I St. Bonaventure for 1 year before playing 3 years at R.I.T. where he was their starting catcher
- In high school soccer he was chosen as the team MVP in his senior year
Dave Smith
Class: 1981-1985

College: Community College of the Finger Lakes- Was the winning pitcher on the 1984 high school baseball team that won Sectionals. He was selected as the game MVP.
- In his high school baseball career he holds the record for the most wins in a 3 year career with 26.
- As a great athlete he was selected as an all-star in 3 different sports: soccer, basketball, & baseball.
- In 1985 he received the USMC Distinguished Athlete Award as well as the Terry Norris Award.
- At the college level he played two years of baseball for the Finger Lakes Community College where he had an excellent career.
Jim Insley
Class of 1986

College: SUNY @ Brockport- His senior year in high school, he not only won the Terry Norris Award, but also the Sid Miles Award recognizing him as the best male athlete in the school.
- His senior year in baseball he had a banner year, making several All-Star teams while leading his team in six offensive categories.
- Later, he would return to Wellsville as the varsity boys basketball coach and is now recognized as the greatest boys basketball coach in school history. Insley led Wellsville to the program's first two sectional titles in 2010 and 2015.
- During his 14 years as the school's basketball coach, his teams made the finals 12 times, an incredible run of consistent success. Upon his retirement in 2015, his career mark stood at 319 wins and only 104 losses.
- Always recognized as a role model for all his players, his accomplishments are many: Four-time Section V Coach of the Year, two-time Spectator Great 8 Coach of the Year, Big 30 Coach of the Year, three-time Ronald McDonald game coach, and the best of all in 2013 he was chosen as the Ronald McDonald House Sports Citizen of the Year.
Lisa Potter Lewis

College: Alfred University- She had the distinction of playing on the varsity level in four different sports: soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball.
- Her senior year she was chosen as the Section V most valuable player in volleyball.
- Her senior year she was awarded the U.S. Army Scholar Athlete Award, the Sid Miles Award as the top female athlete, and the Terry Norris Award.
- Played 4 years of volleyball at Alfred University where she was selected captain of her team her senior year.
- She is recognized as an outstanding athlete no matter the sport. Since high school she has become a top-notch bowler and golfer.
Dave Quinn
Class: 1982-1986

College: Mercyhurst College- Scored over 1000 points and current holder of the single game scoring record with 42 points.
- Senior season averaged 22.7 points and 14.3 rebounds per game.
- Selected to the Big 30 both junior and senior year and MVP of the Steuben AA-A All Stars senior year.
- Perhaps one of the finest men's basketball players to ever wear a Wellsville uniform.
- Attended and graduated from Mercyhurst College on a Full Ride athletic basketball scholarship.
Dave Ackerman

Colleges: Brockport State & East Carolina University- In high school he was an outstanding athlete in 3 sports: Football, Basketball, and Baseball.
- In baseball he was the starting center fielder and lead off batter of the 1987 Section V Championship team.
- In the sport of basketball he entered his high school career as the All Time leader in steals and varsity games played.
- In football he was the starting QB for three years and received several team awards as well as many All Star accolades.
- In 1986 he was given the Sid Miles Award as the best male athlete of his class.
- After graduating he went on to have a brilliant rugby career at Brockport State and East Carolina University.

- Was an All League Selection in soccer and baseball during his high school career
- Team M.V.P. his senior year in baseball earning a baseball scholarship to Salem College
- Four year starter in baseball in college earning All Conference at Brockport State for two consecutive years
- Recognized as a leader of men by being elected as captain of his high school soccer and baseball teams, as well as his college baseball team

- She was selected team MVP in soccer for 2 years and team MVP in track for 4 years.
- Went on to have a distinguished soccer career in college at St. John Fisher
