Long-term Facilities Plan

Project Overview Wayland Public Schools is launching a comprehensive Long-Term Facilities Planning and Educational Visioning project. To ensure our schools meet the current and future needs of our students, faculty, and community, we have partnered with HMFH Architects, a Cambridge-based educational architecture firm with extensive experience in master planning and system-wide assessments.

This collaborative process is designed to examine our existing school facilities and understand our district's educational aspirations. The goal is to deliver design options that skillfully integrate informed educational planning with innovative learning environments.

timeline
  • Project Timeline & Phases The project is organized into four distinct tasks, scheduled to begin in September 2025 and conclude in April.

Task 1: Evaluation & Analysis (14 Weeks) The team will focus on understanding existing conditions through rigorous data collection. This phase establishes the foundational knowledge required for informed decision-making.
Task 2: Educational Visioning Concurrent with the analysis, we will engage in interactive educational visioning with project stakeholders.
Milestone: Tasks 1 & 2 are scheduled for completion by New Year's 2026.
Task 3: Master Plan Options (8 Weeks) Using the gathered data and visioning feedback, the team will analyze information to develop specific master planning options for the district.
Task 4: Community Outreach (6 Weeks) The final phase involves presenting the master planning options to key decision-makers and the greater Wayland community.
