Meet Your Board
Shawn Haus
School Board Secretary
I'm Shawn Haus. I graduated from Taylor in 1979 as did my wife Michelle. We have lived in Taylor School district most of our lives. Our 3 boys, Josh, Corey, & Adam graduated from Taylor. Michelle just recently retired from Taylor after 29 years. Our hearts will always be at Taylor. I am a past Taylor School Board member and retired from The Kokomo Police Department in 2018. After KPD, I was Chief Deputy Coroner here in Howard County and am currently employed at Stout Funeral Homes. As a board member I want to do my part in helping Taylor provide a great education to our students. Taylor has always had, and still does have great teachers and staff.

Bill Brubaker
School Board Member
I have lived in Taylor Township off and on since 1966. I attended Taylor Elementary and graduated from Taylor High School in 1978. I then went on to attend Manchester College were I received a degree in Marketing and Management.
My wife is Julie, who was a 1980 graduate of Eastern High School. She's been in banking since 1993 and is currently employed as a loan interviewer at Solidarity Community FCU. We've had 2 children go thru the Taylor School system. The first was Douglas, who graduated in 2004 with honors and is currently living in Houston, Texas and working at Continental Airlines. Danielle graduated in 2007 also with honors and will be attending IUK in the fall. Our third child is Clayton, who will be part of the class of 2019. I am very proud to say all 3 of our children will be graduates of Taylor High School.
I have been in Retail Management since 1981. I started as a manager of a Dime Store in Northern Indiana & then moved around the state with Danners Inc, Marjax Sporting Goods and Best Buy, then I got the opportunity to move back to my home town of Kokomo in 1993 to open the new Shoe Carnival. My wife and I have enjoyed working with Prevent Child Abuse of Howard County since 1999. We have served as the Chairperson of the fundraising committee and we are still currently committee members. I also have enjoyed helping coach Clayton in PAL Flag Football and being an assistant coach of his Rookie League baseball.
I decided to become a board member because I feel Taylor is a great school system that has had some difficult times. With my management experience, I feel I might be able to lend a hand in moving our school system in a positive and more stable direction. I want everyone to know that I have an open ear and will listen to suggestions and comments you may have. Please remember it's all about our kids.

We have lived in the Taylor School district for nearly our entire marriage. We have been very involved in Taylor as volunteers and staff over the years. My hubby is employed as a part time bus driver, I was employed at for a year as the PLATO Credit Recovery Paraprofessional. I have been President and Spirit Coordinator of the Band Boosters, the Parent Coordinator for the Senior Fling for the class of 2015. I have a Business degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. For 3 years, I was the Finance Director of our Church Camp Board. I am currently the Finance Director for Up & Up Ministries, which is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit that works and serves in the island nation of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. I love the administrative side of business and have served as a Church Secretary/Ministry Assistant/Personal Ministry Assistant in two churches for more than 20 years.
I wholeheartedly believe in the Taylor’s Mission Statement to prepare and encourage our students for success. It is my desire to help “distinguish ourselves as a premiere educational site, ensuring a life of success and continued growth for all of our students.” I believe the position of a school board member is very valuable in making decisions for the betterment of our community and our world by helping and equipping our current students prepare for the rest of their lives and looking forward to the students yet to come. I hope to be a voice for students and their parents since I am a current parent of a Senior. I believe we have the best administrators, teachers and students in our community and I desire to be part of continuing that tradition.

Dennis Marler
School Board Vice President
My name is Dennis Marler. I am a proud 1977 graduate of Taylor High School. Following graduation, I spent two years on a church mission in Japan and then went on to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University). I worked full-time for GM for two years before taking an educational leave to attend the MIT Sloan School of Business where I obtained a Master’s of Science in Management in 1989. We then took a job with IBM in Lexington, KY for one and a half years before returning to Kokomo in 1990.
My wife Marcia, Taylor High School Registrar, and I have spent the last 20 years raising our family in the Taylor School system. We have three children, all of which have spent their entire secondary education years at Taylor: Tyler, class of 2004; Tara, a 2007 graduate; and Trevor, class of 2013. I am currently employed by Delphi as a Platform & Commercial Manager responsible for the Powertrain Diesel engine control business.
In my free time, I enjoy coaching baseball in the youth leagues at Taylor (18 years as a coach and board member), Taylor 7th grade basketball, and soccer. I also enjoy woodworking when I have the time.
I ran for the school board in an effort to continue improving our school system and to help make it a place of pride for all those involved – our students, teachers, staff, administrators, and constituents. I firmly believe that Taylor is well on our way to becoming a leader in how our students are educated and in preparing them for the next phase in their lives. We have excellent teachers, administrators and staff and I am excited about the future of our schools.
