Highly Qualified (HQ) Requirements for Educational Assistants

In compliance with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Educational Assistants at Title-I schools must meet the requirements to demonstrate Highly Qualified (HQ) status.  Pacific Ridge Elementary is a Title-I school, which means that all K-5 Educational Assistants must be Highly Qualified.  For 6-12 Educational Assistants, HQ status is desired but not required.  The District must document the HQ status of all Educational Assistants.

TO BE HIGHLY QUALIFIED (HQ) YOU MUST HAVE :

◼ Completed two years of study at an institution of higer education; OR

◼ Obtained an Associate's degree (or higher); OR

◼ Pass an approved state or local academic assessment of reading, writing and math skills (within 10 weeks of beginning employment).

ACCUPLACER TEST
