National/State Scholarships for the 2023/2024 school year
Marion Huber Learning Through Listening Awards: Each year, the Marion Huber Learning Through Listening awards are presented to Learning Ally high school senior members with learning disabilities, who plan to continue their education after graduation, in recognition of their academic achievement, outstanding leadership, and service to others. Offered since 1991, the awards are given to students who are chosen by a selection committee. Learning Ally awards the top winners $6,000 each and special honors winners $2,000 each. Winners will be notified of their awards in early 2024. Visit Marion Huber Learning Through Listening Scholarship @ Learning Ally. Native Daughters of the Golden West: Scholarships are available to those who are California-born, members of the NDGW, or eligible to affiliate with the NDGW, or have a familial relationship to a member. The Scholarships: Up to a maximum of $1,350 for any UC or CSU campus, Annie L. Adair Scholarships up to a maximum of $1,300 each to students majoring in business or social welfare at an accredited CA university or college, Sue J. Irwin Scholarships up to a maximum of $1,000 each awarded to students of an accredited CA university, college, or vocational program, trade school, or online course. The Race to End the Stigma Scholarship was created in efforts to begin the conversation about mental health. The $1,000 Race to End the Stigma scholarship is granted annually to graduating high school seniors within the twenty-one countries that we serve who have expressed interest in raising mental health awareness or who have shared their story about mental health. TriCounty LGBT Alliance Scholarship Program: The mission of the Tri-County LGBT Alliance is to enrich and uplift the life quality and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people in Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Amador Counties. We aim for intersectional engagement in community development while celebrating our LGBTQIA+ and rural identities, striving for visibility and equity in all areas of community life. This is a scholarship opportunity available to area seniors graduating in 2024. Application for consideration is simple: If you identify as LGBTQIA+, or as an LGBTQIA+ ally, write a 500 word minimum essay on what acceptance means to you. Essays must be completed and submitted by April 1st, 2024. To submit an essay, mail it to Tri-County LGBT Alliance at PO Box 894 Murphys, CA 95247 or email it to tricountylgbtalliance@gmail.com. Please include a cover letter with your full name, contact information and what school you attend. The essay should follow the cover letter without your name so that they may be read anonymously. Up to $2000 will be awarded in varying amounts to selected recipients; scholarships will be decided by May 15th, 2024 and awarded shortly after. Please indicate whether or not you wish for your scholarship award to be announced publicly or kept anonymous, as we always want to honor your level of comfort being associated with the LGBTQIA+ Community, and we understand that can be quite complicated.
Italian Catholic Federation: The Italian Catholic Federation (I.C.F) is a National Roman Catholic Fraternal Organization composed of persons of Italian ancestry (including their non-Italian spouses) who are of Roman Catholic Faith. Requirements: total cumulative GPA (3 1/2 years) of at least 3.2 and meet all of the requirements in either #1 or #2:
1) Are Roman Catholic and of Italian Descent and live within the Roman Catholic Dioceses of California, Illinois and Reno in Nevada, only where Branches of the Federation are established. or 2) if either Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is a member of the Italian Catholic Federation, the student must be Roman Catholic but need not be of Italian Descent or live where Branches of the Federation are established – membership of a Roman Catholic parent, guardian or grandparent is mandatory for #2.
