Welcome to the Prekindergarten at Saranac Central School!
Registration is now open for the 2024-2025 Saranac Central School District Pre-K Early Childhood Program. All registrations are due by no later than April 1, 2024 in order to schedule screenings. Students registered by this date are more likely to receive their preference of classroom placements. There is no guarantee of program participation after the April 1st deadline.
Annual allocation of New York State grant funds will make this early education program available to children living in the Saranac Central School District. Children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2024, to be eligible for this program. Children who are age eligible to attend Kindergarten cannot be enrolled in our Pre-K Program.
Together with our community-based partner, Adirondack Helping Hands, our school district offers free, full-day (7:20 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.), play-based Prekindergarten experiences. If interest in our program exceeds program capacity a lottery process will be held to select students for participation. Our students are placed in inclusive classrooms, located at one of our 3 locations: Adirondack Helping Hands in Cadyville, Morrisonville Elementary School or Saranac Elementary School. Specific classroom placements are based upon programming needs, travel distances and other circumstances.
Free bus transportation is provided to all our program sites. However, children need to be 4 years old to ride our buses. Families of children who start the program at 3 years old will need to provide their own transportation until one day after their child’s 4th birthday.
If a lottery selection process is necessary, all complete registrations on file on or before April 01, 2024, will be eligible to be included in this process. Registrations are not considered complete until all required copies are submitted and reviewed for accuracy.
