Welcome to Third Grade !

We have a lot of learning and fun in store for this year. We will deepen our understanding by integrating new Common Core Standards into tried & true, third grade basics. Our big, thematic units for  integrating science, social studies, language and the arts are:

Fall :                   California Regions

Adaptations:    Plants & Animals of CA           

Winter :           Native Americans of CA

                           Biographies

                         Light & Energy, Exploring Matter

Spring :           The Solar System      

                         Our Community, Rules & Government

To support and extend our learning, we plan to go on field trips to many wonderful places this year, including : 

Kule Loklo,  Muir Woods, the California Academy of Sciences,   Guide Dogs for the Blind,  the Lawrence Hall of Science & the Petaluma Wildlife Museum
