Haley Watt: District Communications Specialist
Hello! Hola! Bonjour! I am Haley Watt, your District Communications Specialist.
I began my journey as a Mini-Midget in Preschool and attended all 13 years here, Kindergarten thru Senior year, graduating in 1996. As a student, you could find me playing the trumpet in the band, participating in scholar bowl, enjoying my duties as captain of the dance team, cheerleading during my high school career, in addition to being active in FBLA, SADD, Student Council, and several clubs and community activities. During my junior and senior year of school here, I took full advantage of the dual enrollment classes through NCMC and IHCC . Upon high school graduation, I spent the next four years studying Communications at Truman State University.
After college I enjoyed six years in wireless sales, transitioning to political fundraising and event planning for a year. Then I took a job at a health club as their Corporate Trainer, doing the hiring and training for multiple areas in two locations. Following two years in the health club, I left to pursue a job as Center Director and Senior Consultant for a medical/aesthetics company. After five years there, I moved to Overland Park, Kansas for a job in plastic surgery and aesthetic sales. I've always enjoyed working with the public, but when my son, Gus, was getting ready to start Kindergarten, it was a good time to move home.
My son, Gus, and I moved back to Unionville in the summer of 2016. Unionville has always been a great place to raise a family, so I planted my roots back in my hometown. Along with moving back and starting a new adventure, I began working as a substitute teacher in the fall of 2016 and announcing at track meets in the Spring. Spending time with all the students was so enjoyable, it just seemed like a great fit when the library assistant position was posted in 2017. During the 2017-2018 school year, I enjoyed serving at the school as the Assistant Librarian, Rosetta Stone Spanish Instructor, and JV Cheer Coach. In December of 2017, I married Jeremy Watt, and together we have 4 boys. It was a fun and busy year!
In May of 2018, our High School Librarian and Webmaster retired. At that time, I took on the role of Middle/High School Librarian, Webmaster, Social Media Manager, Spanish and French Instructor, and District Communications Specialist.
I am forever grateful for this opportunity and look forward to serving the students and community of this amazing school district to the best of my abilities.
