After 17 years of service, Board Director Susan Weed (Director District 1) announced her resignation in a letter to the board effective January 27, 2023. The board is looking to appoint a new director to serve through the end of the term, which expires November 2023. The director position will be up for election in the 2023 primary and general elections.
 
Notice is hereby given that Pullman School District #267 Board of Directors is announcing a vacancy in Director District #1. Interested residents of the school district may apply to fill the unexpired term.
 
Applicants interested in serving must reside in Director District #1. The Pullman Director District boundary map is available here:  PSD District Boundary Map.
 
The vacancy on the five-member board will be open until filled through an application and selection process per Washington State Law. The remaining School Board members will review materials and conduct interviews with the applicants. All citizens are invited to nominate candidates for the position, provided that the nominees are citizens of Washington State and eligible registered voters who reside in the director district.

Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment to the Pullman School Board in Director District #1
  1. You must reside within the Director District of the vacant seat; and
  2. You must be eligible to vote.
 
How to Apply
Complete and submit the Application for Appointment to Pullman School District Board of Directors: Director District #1 along with a one-page cover letter and a resume of no more than two pages with the application no later than February 10, 2023.

Time Commitment Notice

The duties of a school board member will likely involve an average minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per month for preparation, participation, and attendance at meetings.

  • Attendance is required at regular board meetings, which are typically held on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month, at 6:30 p.m. Attendance is also required at a daylong Annual Board Retreat in July.
  • School board members have school site visits (including commencement proceedings), occasional special meetings, and closed/executive sessions. Members also represent the school board at various school‐related and community functions.
  • School board members also may participate in meetings and conferences with the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA). Attendance is strongly encouraged at the Annual WSSDA Conference, typically held each November.
