Homeschooling

RCW 28A.200.011(1) If you plan to homeschool your child in Washington State and they are between the ages of 8-18 years, you must submit a signed Declaration of Intent to Homeschool form every year. This form needs to be turned in by September 15 of the school year or within two weeks of starting homeschooling if you begin mid-year. If your child is currently enrolled in school and you want to switch to homeschooling, you'll need to file the form when withdrawing them.

As the parent, you’re responsible for all decisions about your child’s education, including what they learn, how they learn it, and when and where it happens. Not following the state’s homeschooling requirements as specified in Chapter 28A.200 RCW could violate the compulsory attendance law.
