Our Educational Program
With the vast majority heading to college after graduation, Spartans take their education very seriously. OA provides a diverse and rigorous curriculum ranging from language arts, math, and sciences to enriching the soul through the arts. One unique aspect that almost every student benefits from is the personalized attention that Orcutt Academy staff dedicates itself to achieve. A student population of just over six hundred creates a very personal atmosphere where students feel safe and respected. The numbers back these claims with some of the highest test results in the nation, but to Orcutt students, this is just a great place to learn.

Our History
The Orcutt Academy Charter School (OA) opened its doors on August 20, 2008. In response to public demand on the Central Coast for schools that offer different and innovative educational solutions, the Orcutt Union School District Board of Trustees realized that there was a place for a grades K-12 school that would provide the advantages of a small learning community as well as establish a small local public high school in an area where none previously existed. OA now functions as a dependent charter school, chartered and operated by the Orcutt trustees, and has full access to its school district’s powerful educational resources. OA operates under its own distinct County/District/School (CDS) number and designated Charter number (No. 967). Students take the same state assessments and the school is subject to the same accountability measures as other public schools and school districts. Located on three sites, OA includes classroom-based learning on two separate campuses(Orcutt Academy High School and Orcutt Academy, K-8) and an independent study program in Casmalia (OAIS, K-8).
