PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Developing Teacher Leaders Series is a dynamic initiative designed to empower instructional personnel with the skills, knowledge, and leadership capacity necessary to drive instructional leadership within their educational communities. This program is structured to foster professional growth, collaboration, and innovation among participating teachers. Through a series of experiential learning opportunities, participants will gain insights into effective leadership strategies, instructional methodologies, and best instructional practices.

PROGRAM PARTICIPATION

The program is open to classroom teachers who are recommended by their current principal and aspire to take on leadership roles within their schools or districts. Participants will engage in a series of workshops focused on leadership, instructional development, assessment, evaluation, and curriculum and instruction through a leadership lens. The program is structured to accommodate the diverse schedules of educators, featuring both in-person and virtual sessions after school hours. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, share experiences, and build a supportive network of fellow teacher leaders. Additionally, the program encourages participants to apply their learning directly within their classrooms and schools, ensuring a seamless integration of leadership skills into their daily teaching practices.

The program is currently offered during the spring of each school year. Application information is announced annually in the Deputy Superintendent's Announcements.

PROGRAM EVALUATION

The evaluation process for the Developing Teacher Leaders Series occurs throughout the program and includes reflections and professional learning evaluation surveys. At the conclusion of the program, the goal is for participants to enter preparation programs to become certified mentors, instructional coaches, and school or district leaders.
