The Advanced International Certificate of Education emphasizes OCPS’ vision and mission with its value of broad and balanced study. For those reasons, Colonial High School is proud to host the district’s successful Cambridge AICE magnet.

For the first time in OCPS’ history, two students scored Top Learner Awards in the USA. Jacob Riesterer and Christopher Sito earned it in the 2021 Literature in English and Physics assessments, respectively.   Also, a first in the program's history, Colonial has four graduates who earned a Cambridge Diploma with Distinction: Andrew Sito, Daniel Moraes, Jacob Riesterer and Jenny Tran.

A Cambridge diploma and students’ assessment results are recognized internationally, thereby opening a student’s post-secondary options. Since its inaugural graduating class of 2017, Colonial HS boasts close to 100 students with the Cambridge diploma. The 2021 class earned 32 diplomas with four of them earning the aforementioned Diploma with Distinction recognition.

In addition to the diplomas and top scorer recognition, Colonial HS also celebrates:

  • 2 Cambridge Scholar Award with Distinction - Students earn three  A grades or higher at Cambridge IGCSE exams and three A grades or higher at Cambridge International A/AS exams

  • 7 Cambridge Scholar Award with Merit - Students earn three B grades or higher at Cambridge IGCSE exams and three and B grades or higher at Cambridge International A/AS exams

  • 10 Cambridge Scholar award - Students earn three C grades or higher at Cambridge International A/AS

Allison Ibarra, a U.S. Cambridge representative, visited the school to personally present C. Sito with a special recognition certificate.  He is shown in the photo above holding the certificate.

Here’s a breakdown of OCPS’ AICE students' success for the 2021 testing cycle. East River, Ocoee, Wekiva and Windermere HS’ students’ scores are included in this chart. Their programs are for zoned students.
