The School Board of Orange County held a regularly scheduled board meeting at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center Tuesday, Oct. 13. These are the highlights of the meeting:
 
School Board approves three policy revisions for the 2020-21 school year
The purpose of these revisions is to assure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board Policies, administrative rules, procedures and guidelines.
•  Policy JCA - Assignment of Students to School. Revision ensures that students do not lose their transfer based upon choosing a different mode of learning in the 2020-2021 school year. 
•  Policy JFBD - Magnet School Programs Policy. Revision ensures that students do not lose their transfer based upon choosing a different mode of learning in the 2020-2021 school year.
•. Policy EBBA: Disease Prevention. Updated the policy regarding face coverings as it relates to the following: 
o    Certification of a medical condition that prevents an individual from being able to safely wear a face covering
o    Periodic breaks with restrictions for students and employees
o    Outdoor activities where social distancing is possible
o    Participation in classes and activities involving musical instruments, choral, and theatrical performance 
 
School Board approves four school zones for 2020-21 school year
The schools include:
•. 43-E-SE-2 (impacts Eagle Creek and Laureate Park elementary schools) – Option 1
•  80-H-SW-4 (impacts Dr. Phillips and Freedom high schools) – Option 1
•. 113-H-W-4 (impacts West Orange and Windermere high schools) - Option 2
•. 65-M-W-4 (impacts Bridgewater Middle School) – Option 1
 
113-H-W-4 (Option 2) and 65-M-W-4 (Option 1) would share a building thru the 2022-2023 school year. These are the approved school zone maps.
