Students hold signs sharing thoughts of the day
Hospitality and Tourism students from Freedom and Oak Ridge high schools visited venue sites in downtown Orlando to learn about the career opportunities the hospitality industry in Central Florida has to offer.  Professionals shared their career journeys, memorable moments, tips for success, career options, and answered tons of questions. These work-based learning opportunities are invaluable to career-focused students.

Then UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management graduate Katie Dallas shared the ins and outs of event planning for the Orlando Magic. Dr. Jones of Downtown Valencia College shed light on educational options. The day ended at the Downtown Orlando Marriott where General Manager Michael Hinks, who also serves as a hospitality advisory board member, and his team shared a Marriott brand presentation, provided a tour of the facilities, and treated the students to lunch.

Students described the day as “eventful, informative and entertaining” "awesome" and "educational."

Business partners are pivotal to the success of our students, and work-based learning opportunities such as these are invaluable.
