Orange County Public Schools was able to reopen 209 schools today after Hurricane Ian left damage that directly impacted Central Florida. The district did experience significant flooding at Riverdale Elementary School whose students will return to class at their temporary home, East River High School, Thursday, Oct. 6.
Orange County Public Schools is working with a 
contractor to complete flood mitigation, cleanup and sanitization of the Riverdale campus. While there is currently no timeline for when the repairs will be completed, the rapid response of crews allowed for many items inside the school to be salvaged. Riverdale staff toured the East River campus to become familiar with their temporary home, while also receiving keys to their newly assigned classrooms.
