Like with most events this year, Multilingual Services had to rethink the district’s Spanish Spelling Bee competition. Using Canvas, a learning management system, 32 students from 16 OCPS middle schools competed in the fifth annual Bee, virtually, March 25.


To prepare for the event, students were encouraged to study 766 words. The winner completed five of six rounds, successfully spelling 52 of the 72 words correctly.

Negrón-Ramos will participate in the National Spanish Spelling Bee, held virtually July 8-10. The Colorado Association for Bilingual Education, located in Denver, Colorado, sponsors this competition.
