The School Board of Orange County held its regularly scheduled board meeting at 5 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:
 
Millage adopted to support 2023-24 budget
After a public hearing, the school board adopted the millage required to support the budget for school year 2023-24. View the presentation. The millage rate adopted is as follows:

School Board moves forward with budget for 2023-24 school year
The budget approved by the school board is as follows:

1. Approve the 2023-24 Budget for the General Fund  $2,723,984,930 
 2.  Approve the 2023-24 Budget for the Special Revenue Fund  $325,285,696
 3.  Approve the 2023-24 Budget for the Debt Service Fund  $242,796,524
 4.  Approve the 2023-24 Budget for the Capital Projects Fund  $3,097,205,514
 5.  Approve the 2023-24 Budget for the Internal Service Fund  $359,479,829

School Board approved the 2023-24 Uniform Statewide Assessment Calendar
Per State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.094224, Florida Administrative Code, the district has added their assessment information to the statewide uniform assessment calendar and has published the approved, uniform assessment calendar on the district's website.
 
School Board recognition (see photo above)
Vice Chair Angie Gallo, District 1, presented the first School Board Spotlight to Timber Springs Middle School's Exceptional Student Education (ESE) staffing specialist Linda Craft. Craft has worked at OCPS for more than 20 years. She begins working with ESE students when they are wrapping up their elementary years and continues to be a valuable resource as they move on to high school. She is an incredible asset and tireless advocate for ESE students and their families.
