The School Board of Orange County held its regularly-scheduled board meeting at 5 p.m. at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center. These are the highlights of the meeting:
Proposed Millage adopted to support 2022-23 budget
After a public hearing, the school board adopted the proposed millage required to support the tentative budget for school year 2022-23. The proposed millage rate adopted is as follows:

School Board moves forward with tentative budget for 2022-23 school year
The tentative budget approved by the school board is as follows:

School Board approves OESPA contract for 2022-23 pending ratification
The School Board and the Orange Education Support Professionals Association collaboratively bargained a contract that includes wage increases and contract language for the 2022-23 school year. The details of the agreement are:
• Creation of a new wage structure to provide a new minimum hourly rate of $15 per hour.
• Employees must have worked one day more than half a year in 2021-22 receiving a minimum of 6% per hour increase.
• As a reminder, the 2022-23 school year will see implementation of the second year of the retention bonus previously agreed to with the date of distribution to be determined.

School Board approves salary increases for School-based Administrators, Administrative/Technical Personnel, Executive Management, and Food Service Managers for 2022-23 pending ratification of CTA and OESPA contracts
School-based Administrators, Administrative/Technical Personnel, Executive Management, and Food Service Managers in position by Jan. 15, 2022, will receive an average increase of 6%. Employees must be actively employed with OCPS at the time these increases are paid in order to be eligible to receive them.

School Board approves employment contract for Superintendent Designate
School board members approved the Agreement of Employment for Dr. Maria Vazquez to serve as the next Superintendent for Orange County Public Schools. The Board delegated authority to the School Board Chair and the Office of Legal Services to negotiate the employment contract with Superintendent Designate, Dr. Vazquez. See Agreement of Employment.
Board members approve the Superintendent Emerita Transition Agreement
The School Board approved the Superintendent Emerita Transition Agreement for the period of Sept. 1, 2022 through Dec. 1, 2022. During this time, Dr. Jenkins will serve as an advisor to the School Board and will assist with the transition of leadership.
Dr. Barbara Jenkins was recognized for her 30 years of service with Orange County Public Schools during a surprise visit from her predecessor former Superintendent Ronald Blocker, former School Board Chair Bill Sublette, and school board members. She was presented with a 30 year service pin for her contributions and commitment to OCPS students, staff and families.
