SENIORS -- WELCOME BACK and we hope you are ready to work hard and start making concrete plans for your years after high school. Mr. Wagar and Mrs. Racine will be meeting with each Senior individually starting in September. Please stop by the Guidance Office to sign up for your Senior meeting with your counselor.
If you plan to attend a University, you should have an SAT or ACT exam under your belt. If not, please sign up to take one as soon as possible. Not every school requires the SAT's or ACT's but many schools use SAT's for scholarship purposes. Please see Mrs. Racine or Mr. Wagar if you have any questions rather you should take these college entrance exams. At this time, you should be starting your brag sheet and considering teachers for your letters of recommendations. If you need further assistance with any of these items, please see your school counselor. Seniors, please keep an eye on your email, your counselors will send many helpful messages throughout your senior year.
Excelsior Scholarship -- Please visit www.hesc.ny.gov/excelsior for more information and to sign up for email alerts about when and how to apply. The Excelsior Scholarship will be available in late May and there is a deadline for applications. All other scholarships will become available as we receive word in the Guidance Office. See Mrs. Duprey, Scholarship Coordinator, for details.
FAFSA - NEW THIS YEAR - the FAFSA will not open up until Mid December. Please keep an eye out on parent square for an alert when the FAFSA opens. The tuition assistance program (TAP) application is now open. You may start the TAP application, but please remember this application will not be submitted until your FAFSA is submitted. In the mean time, your application will sit in a holding folder until you are ready to submit the FAFSA. Remember, parents and students MUST have an FSA ID before starting your FAFSA application. In January, Plattsburgh State will be hosting online webinars for students and parents every Wednesday in the month of January to assist families with their FAFSA.
