Interested in Junior High Band?

Check out our "Be a Part of Band" Webpage!

The Nettleton Public Schools RAIDER BAND has a long history of excellence, and even during the challenging times that we are currently facing in education, the advancement of fine arts, music education, and artistic performance remains at the heart of the NPS RAIDER BAND.

In preparation for the 2021-22 school year, and in continuation of its grand heritage, RAIDER BAND has created a website that will serve to inform prospective new members of the experiences they can expect to have as a RAIDER BAND member.  This recruitment and information tool will help to provide insight into the workings of RAIDER BAND, including the various musical and artistic pathways that are available to its members.

Please take a moment to peruse the website, and then feel free to reach out to the Directors of NPS Band Activities, Peggy Jeffries (peggy.jeffries@nettletonschools.net) and Grant Brinkle (grant.brinkle@nettletonschools), if you would like to learn more about the outstanding RAIDER BAND...its students, its opportunities, and its legacy.

With Raider Pride,

Weekend Meals Begin Today

Beginning today (Friday, January 15th) students will be bringing home additional meals for the weekend.

This will include items for two (2) breakfasts and two (2) lunches.

We are glad to be able to provide these meals with the help of the USDA.

This will occur each Friday as long as this program is approved.

Most items will be sent home frozen or shelf-stable. Please put all items in the refrigerator until they are consumed.

We hope your child enjoys their weekend meals.

Mindsets are Growing at NJHS

Since returning from holiday break, some of the 7th graders have learned about the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset.

"In a fixed mindset, you limit yourself.  Everybody should have a growth mindset," Grayson Reese shared.

Students have been reflecting and goal setting with growth in mind.  They then worked together to make this collaborative mural.  Each student had one sheet of paper that eventually came together to become part of the overall mural.  Rylee Blansett said that it was amazing to see the results after putting the individual pieces together to create the mural.

Each student learned a little about the person they were assigned - people such as Maya Angelou, Steve Jobs, Jackie Robinson, Georgia O'Keeffe, Malala Yousafzai, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln, and how these individuals were instrumental in paving the way for us in 2021.

"I learned about Maya Angelou and how she was a poor, African-American girl who grew up to be one of the best authors in history.  She inspires me to feel like I can do better," Dylan Brown said.

Mrs. Marsico discussed the importance of a growth mindset with the students and reminded them that their brain "is going to believe what you tell it" and encouraged them to make growth goals.  Students set forth goals, intent, purpose, or value in how they want to complete the 7th grade.

Great job!
