Since returning from holiday break, some of the 7th graders have learned about the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset.
"In a fixed mindset, you limit yourself. Everybody should have a growth mindset," Grayson Reese shared.
Students have been reflecting and goal setting with growth in mind. They then worked together to make this collaborative mural. Each student had one sheet of paper that eventually came together to become part of the overall mural. Rylee Blansett said that it was amazing to see the results after putting the individual pieces together to create the mural.
Each student learned a little about the person they were assigned - people such as Maya Angelou, Steve Jobs, Jackie Robinson, Georgia O'Keeffe, Malala Yousafzai, Martin Luther King Jr., and Abraham Lincoln, and how these individuals were instrumental in paving the way for us in 2021.
"I learned about Maya Angelou and how she was a poor, African-American girl who grew up to be one of the best authors in history. She inspires me to feel like I can do better," Dylan Brown said.
Mrs. Marsico discussed the importance of a growth mindset with the students and reminded them that their brain "is going to believe what you tell it" and encouraged them to make growth goals. Students set forth goals, intent, purpose, or value in how they want to complete the 7th grade.
Great job!
