Welcome to the new home of Voyager's Robotics program!

We are excited about new resources this year. We have a second 3D printer, doubling our simulatneous print capacity. We also are using a bunch of new software on our brand-new, more-powerful computers. We hope to use Autodesk 123D Design and Meshmixer to design even more amazing things for our printer. We are also venturing more into hardware with our Arduino platforms and VEX IQ robot kits.

With this whole process I am continuing my commitment to making all the software we use both relate to industry standard, but also be available for students to install at home for free.

Code.org is a resource for sixth grade students to learn basic programming skills. Students are given a login and can proceed at their own pace through the lessons. This will turn into an assignment grade at the end of the trimester.

Lightbot is an app or online application that helps teach programming. It is especially good for teaching about functions/methods/processes.

Check out the new student work added to the gallery. Students from the year-long 8th grade course used 3D printing, 3D scanning, Meshmixer and 123D design to craft an art project. Each box created its own little world. Big thanks to Mariner High School's Manufacturing Technology class for manufacturing the boxes for us. Ms. Goodall's year-long art class also participated by making their own boxes. Robotics students shared their digital design/scuplting expertise and art students shared their painting techniques to make all the projects better.

7th graders are now using Arduino 

microcontrollers 

to learn about programming, 

electricity and circuits.

Students can follow the lessons on Adafruit to learn the basics of 

automating and programming real life objects.

Circuits can be virtually assembled and simulated using Autodesk 123D circuits. Students can then build them with actual breadboards and circuit components in real life.

Students in the 8th grade year-long robotics course will be programming Arduinos to controll interactive elements of permanent art installations for the school

Demitri Diosdado, a Voyager 8th grader, won a National Silver Medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. The piece is titled, "Trying to Get Out of Life".

This is the fourth national award art teacher Sarah Goodall has won during her time at Voyager. Our student is the only national award winner in middle school art in Washington state.

The Demitri used both our X-Box Kinect scanner as well as the new DAVID structured light scanner for added detail. The print was made on our MakerBot Replicator 2.
