The Mission of Fairmount Elementary School is to work to achieve our highest potential in a safe, caring, inclusive learning environment.
Built in 1952, Fairmount is one of the oldest schools in the Mukilteo School District. The facility was remodeled in 1993 and a new 12-room, two-story addition was opened in the fall of 1999 to replace aging portables and a modular building. The office area was also extensively remodeled in 1999.
Currently, there are 26 permanent classrooms, a flex room/cafeteria, library, gymnasium, music room, and computer lab. The building also houses our LAP, Title I, EL, Resource model, and Primary Support programs.
Outside facilities include a covered play area and a sand field. Our facilities are used often by a variety of community groups and organizations. The Boys and Girls club provides before- and after-school daycare at our facility during the school year.
Fairmount is a culturally and academically diverse school that serves students with a strong instructional program, a wide range of activities, an extensive student recognition program, and an ongoing partnership with parents and the community. Our goal is to help all students reach their maximum academic, physical and social potential.
In addition to the general education program for 1st through 5th grade, we house three of the school district’s Lighthouse programs for primary, self-contained, special education students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our English Learner (EL) program supports students speaking 19 different languages. A variety of instructional strategies are used to teach all populations, including cooperative learning, peer tutoring, team teaching, whole-group, small-group and individual instruction.
