Mrs. Rodriguez

Dear Families,

Welcome to second grade!! My name is Abby Rodriguez (some of you might remember me as Abby Cohn) and I am honored to be your child’s second grade teacher. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and have National Boards Certification for Early/Middle Childhood Literacy. This will be my 7th year teaching at Discovery. Previously, I taught first grade and this school year I will be starting a new and exciting chapter as a second-grade teacher. I am eager to continue on with many familiar students and build upon the knowledge and skills they have gained from first grade.

I look forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead. You will be able to share in your child’s progress as they become avid readers, writers, scientists and mathematicians! Some critical aspects of your child’s learning will rely on parent involvement, such as creating a structured learning environment at home, providing adequate school supplies, and following up on a consistent behavior plan. I encourage family members to volunteer their time in the classroom whenever possible. Attached to this letter you will find a volunteer form, a summary of our behavior plan, as well as some other important information regarding our procedures throughout the school year.

Communication is the key to a great parent-teacher relationship. Please contact me if you have questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note, email me at RodriguezAB@mukilteo.wednet.edu  or call me at school (425-366-2700). I will be available to meet almost any day after school by appointment.

It is such a pleasure to welcome you to my class and I hope to have a very successful second grade year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rodriguez
