• In support of its Classified Employees, the Mill Valley School District will begin participation in the Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) in the 2024-2025 School Year. Your Classified Leadership Group can provide additional information, but in brief:
     
    The Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) provides employees working 11 months or fewer with a unique opportunity to set aside up to 10 percent of their paycheck and have the state match those funds dollar for dollar. If you earn the maximum allowable income and set aside 10 percent, you could potentially earn up to $6,000 dollars in additional money. This state-funded, summer-saver program is specifically designed to help classified employees who don’t receive a paycheck during the summer months.
     
    Employees who wish to participate must meet this eligibility criteria:
    • The employee must have been employed with the Local Education Agency (LEA ) for at least one year at the time the employee elects to participate. That means you must have been hired on or before March 1, 2023. 
    • The employee is employed by the LEA in their regular assignment for 11 months or fewer, out of a 12-month period. For our district, this means you are either a 9.5 month or 10.5 month employee. For purposes of determining total months employed, the employing LEA shall exclude any hours worked outside of the regular assignment. A month is defined to mean 20 days or four weeks of 5 days each, including legal holidays pursuant to EC Section 45500(q)(2) as amended by Section 28 of, Assembly Bill 185 (Chapter 571, Statutes of 2022).
    • The regular annual pay the classified employee receives directly from the LEA is $62,400 or less for an entire school year, at the time of enrollment. For purposes of determining regular annual pay, exclude any pay received by the classified employee during the previous summer recess period. Pay earned by a classified employee with limited employment during the months of June, July, or August that is not for the summer session shall not be excluded.
     
    If you are eligible and wish to participate, you must complete the Election form and return it to Human Resources by Monday, February 26, 2024 so that we may verify eligibility by the March 1, 2024 deadline.
