• Welcome to Tam Valley Elementary School

The Mill Valley School District announced in the summer of 2021 that Lisa Lamar, who was serving as Mill Valley Middle School Dean of Students, had been promoted to Principal of Tam Valley Elementary School. Ms. Lamar joined Tam Valley prior to the 2021-22 school year.   Ms. Lamar brings a background of over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher in elementary and middle school. Lisa spent seven of them as an Early Education Administrator, having earned two Masters, one in Administration and one in Curriculum and Instruction. Most recently, she served as Dean of Students at the middle school, leading the school’s Extended Distance Learning program this year, and currently serving as the Principal of Mill Valley School District’s K-8 Summer School.

Ms. Lamar’s background is in both psychology and early childhood development. She is passionate about making a difference in the lives of students and families. Ms. Lamar’s educational philosophy is that high-quality instruction begins with a positive and open school culture. She believes in educating the whole child and holds that social-emotional learning is paramount.

Lisa Lamar has raised three children. Two are in college and one is a college graduate, employed and living in San Francisco. Lisa and her husband are moving to Novato this fall with their newly adopted puppy Whoodle.

“I have a passion for education that I have always found to be personally fulfilling,” Ms. Lamar said. “I enjoy forging relationships with students, parents, and teachers. I believe in working collaboratively with teachers and families to ensure the best outcomes for our students.”
