Gleaners/MVCSC Food PantryFree Meals for ALL MVCSC Students

MVCSC is pleased to announce that the USDA has approved a nationwide waiver due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that ALL students can receive FREE meals at school.

MVCSC is encouraging ALL students to take advantage of this free meals program; you will be supporting federal funding of the MVCSC Food Service Department with every meal distributed.

STUDENTS CAN RECEIVE 1 FREE BREAKFAST AND 1 FREE LUNCH PER SCHOOL DAY.

There will be no food service during breaks.

Meals must meet the USDA guidelines and MVCSC has to follow these guidelines in order for meals to be free. The USDA wants all meals that are funded by the government to meet certain nutrition requirements.  A school cannot be reimbursed by the USDA for parts of a meal, the meal must be a complete meal.

High/Middle/Elementary School- All meals must contain at least 3 components, one must be a fruit or vegetable.  As always, we will ensure that all students who purchase an entrée will have the minimum choices necessary to be able to qualify as a free meal.  For example, if a student chooses a sandwich entrée, they will be asked to also choose a fruit or vegetable to make it a full meal. Students are allowed to get both a fruit and vegetable (up to 2 each) at no charge, and milk is optional.

A  La Carte Items - These items will still be an additional charge and include: extra entrees, milk (all schools), and snacks/drinks (High/Middle School). Menus can be found on our website under the Food Service & Menus page.

Elementary/Preschool – All meal items are placed on the tray for all students and qualify as a complete meal.
