DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE POLICY
It is the mission of the Mountain Brook Board of Education to provide an educational environment which enables each individual to reach his or her fullest potential. Consistent with that mission lies an important system goal: to promote a drug-free environment.
It is the policy of the Mountain Brook Board of Education that the use of alcohol and other drugs (as outlined under the Standards of Conduct) and the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of illicit drugs is prohibited.

EMPLOYEE DRUG TESTING POLICY
The Mountain Brook Board of Education recognizes that our employees are our greatest asset. Our employees are the key to our goal of providing the best possible education program for our students. To achieve our goal, and to maximize the skills and talents of our employees, it is important that every employee of our school system understands the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and is aware of the state and federal requirements concerning substance abuse. This policy statement is offered to clarify our position on employee drug and alcohol use.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program is voluntary and confidential. Through this free program, employees and their immediate family members may receive confidential personal counseling, marital counseling, counseling regarding alcohol and drug difficulties, and other services. The Alcohol Substance Abuse Council of Jefferson County (ASAC) offers a wide variety of information, services, and programs for you, your family, your co-workers, your school, and our community. ASAC’s prevention and information services for alcohol abuse and alcoholism, underage drinking information and help, substance abuse information and help, problem gambling information and help, and smoking cessation programs to help you or a loved one quit smoking or using other tobacco products, and self-help meeting listings. -
