The Social Studies Department at Mountain Brook High School strives to help students make informed decisions as citizens of a democratic society that is culturally diverse and constantly changing. Classes are taught by twelve full-time faculty members who provide an engaging and challenging learning experience designed to develop and refine students' skills of analysis, collaboration, decision-making, and problem-solving. The curriculum includes courses in U.S. History, U.S. Government, American Studies, and Economics, as well as the electives of Comparative Government, European History, Psychology, and Critical Film Studies.
