• Tech Bundle Technical Problems or Unintentional Damage

The Dell Chromebooks purchased by Mountain Brook Schools are covered by a basic Dell warranty.  The warranty covers the machine for hardware failures, such as:

    • Will not charge or will not turn on
    • Internal component failure
    • Keyboard or touchpad not working

The following are examples of incidents not covered by the Dell warranty, for which the burden of repair and/or replacement cost will fall on the parent.

    • Damage due to fire, natural disasters or other acts of God
    • Intentional damage, such as abuse or vandalism
    • Loss or theft of the Chromebook
    • Repeated or excessive incidents of damage

In the event that the Chromebook develops a technical problem or is damaged, the issue must be reported to the local school technology coordinator.  The technology coordinator will handle getting the machine serviced and back into operation.  For theft of a Chromebook, a police report will be filed.

Excessive or Repeated Damage or Loss

In the event of repeated or excessive damage, the technology department will determine if the machine can be repaired for a reasonable cost.  The cost of the repair will be communicated to, and the responsibility of, the parent.  In the event the machine is lost, stolen or damaged beyond reasonable repair, the fee to reimburse MBS will be as follows:

    REIMBURSEMENT FEES

    $230  Year One

    $160 Year Two
