Janet Nelson began teaching music at Crestline in 2006 and is delighted to have the opportunity to teach your child. She enjoys collaborating on a daily basis with her  colleague Laura Butler.  What a luxury for an elementary school to have two music teachers!

She holds Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from Samford University.  She has had additional opportunities for study at the University of Memphis, the University of Connecticut and the University of South Carolina.  In November 2009 she completed requirements for National Board Certification in early and middle childhood music. She completed requirements for renewal of this certification in 2019.  In May of 2014, she received a Mountain Brook City Schools Performance Award. She is a member of NAfME and ACDA.

In recent years, she has had the opportunity to perform with a group of local friends in the premier of a choral work at Carnegie Hall. In the same concert, she also sang the Mozart Requiem under the direction of British composer/conductor John Rutter. Professional development doesn't get any better than this!  In 2016 she performed in another premier with this same choral group in Florence, Italy where she was able to combine two of her favorite interests: choral music and travel!
