Welcome to Mrs. Johnson’s class!  She is SO excited to be your child’s first grade teacher!  She is looking forward to an awesome year! 

Suzanne and her family just moved to Alabama from Southlake, Texas this summer! This is her 31st year of teaching. She graduated from Texas A & M and taught in Irving,TX  for 14 years. She taught second grade for 7 years.  Then she was a reading specialist for another 7…Following that, she taught first grade for 16 years. She feels so lucky to join Brookwood Forest teaching the grade she loves!  She is amazed by the friendly staff and hospitality of Alabama!  Fun fact- Suzanne’s parents are from Alabama.  She spent the summers visiting family in both Florence and Winfield.  Her father’s job moved them to Texas.  Now her husband’s job brings her to Alabama.  Full circle… 😊

Suzanne and her family live in Vestavia. They lived in Southlake for 18 years.  Before that, they lived in Dallas and Coppell.  She’s been married to her husband Mitch for 24 years.  He is the new president of Gus Mayer. They have three children.  Olivia is 21 and just graduated from Texas Tech. She lives in Austin and is working for a specialty store Julian Gold. Their son Brady, 18 years old, will be a senior at Vestavia.  Brady plays football and basketball.  He is also loving how welcome he feels!  It means so very much to his mom! And Chloe, 11, is starting 6^th grade at Pizitz MS. She is so ready to start school!  Chloe loves anything volleyball!  She’s been playing since first grade.

Her goal as your first grade teacher is to provide a fun, challenging and nurturing environment with a huge variety of learning experiences across the curriculum.  Your child will grow so much this year, so don’t blink!  First grade is a BIG year!  She’s looking forward to a fantastic year together!
