The MBHS Theatre Department’s production of The Women of Lockerbie ran from September 30 to October 1, 2021.
The play is based on Pan Am Flight 103, which flew from Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit, Michigan. A bomb caused the plane to explode over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all passengers. The play follows a fictional woman, Madeline Livingstone, looking for her son’s remains among the debris. While searching for his remains, Livingstone meets women attempting to retrieve the passengers' clothing and return it to their families.
This year, the MBHS Theatre Department took a different approach to the audition process with virtual and in-person components. For the audition process, “[Students] had to fill out an information form online and then …[submit] a one minute video of us saying a monologue of …[their] choice,” leading actress Amy Beth Hudson said. There were individual and group callbacks before the official cast list was released.
Hudson has been doing theatre since her sophomore year, first starring in Chicago.
