Jessica Meriwether grew up in south Alabama but has lived in Birmingham for over seventeen years. She graduated from the University of Alabama with an accounting degree and worked as an accountant for a short time before deciding to do what she really loves, teach! She then graduated from UAB with a Master’s in Elementary Education. The 2022-2023 school year will be her fourteenth year as a Brookwood Forest Ranger teaching sixth grade social studies and reading. Jessica is a National Board Certified Teacher in Social Studies-History for Early Adolescence. It is her mission to instill a love for learning in her students by making history come alive. She attempts to teach social studies with a passion so her students will have a love and appreciation for their country and develop a desire to become life-long learners.

Jessica is married to John, and they have two children. In her free time she enjoys watching her children play sports and spending time with her family at the beach.
