Laura grew up in a Homewood, Alabama where her hopes of being an educator were first born. In 4th grade her teacher inspired her to become a reader, a writer, and a teacher. 

She graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degrees in Elementary and Collaborative Special Education. She later went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master of Arts in Education and degrees in Elementary-Secondary Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Laura has been board certified from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards since 2017 with a certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts-Early and
Middle Childhood.  She has been awarded with the Mountain Brook Outstanding Performance Award. 

Laura is happily married to Nick. They have a son and a furry-four-legged Labrador daughter. She enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, playing with her son, and reading. 

This year celebrates her twenty-second year of being an educator. She has had the privilege of being a part of the Brookwood Forest family for the past sixteen years teaching fourth and fifth grade.
