Mrs. Cindy Carlisle

Cindy Carlisle is a fifth-grade mathematics teacher at Crestline Elementary.  This will be her 21st year of teaching and her third year at Crestline. Prior to teaching at Crestline, she taught in Shelby County Schools for 3 years.  Mrs. Carlisle grew up in Texas and moved to Birmingham from McKinney, Texas.  While in Texas, Mrs. Carlisle has taught grades 3, 4, and 5.  Also, she is ESL certified and has experience working with students in language acquisition.  Mrs. Carlisle has a passion for helping students develop a love of mathematics.  She believes the mathematics classroom should focus on applying math in meaningful ways as part of the learning process, so students can make sense of their world mathematically.  Mrs. Carlisle is looking forward to helping students reach their full potential and ensure the development of a postitive growth-mindset in mathematics.  

Mrs. Carlisle is married to Steward, a teacher and football coach, and has 2 daughters.  Her oldest daughter lives in Denver, Colorado and her youngest daughter lives in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  Mrs. Carlisle enjoys going to the movies, DIY projects, visiting family (especially her daughters), taking long walks, and attending Friday night football games.
