At Rainbow Elementary our most important job is to provide a safe and secure campus for our students.  This is vital for their growth and development to feel safe and comfortable before reaching their full potential.  Below are measures we take to ensure the safety and security of your children is a top priority:

    • Our front lobby has double security doors that cannot be opened without office staff or a scanned card by faculty or staff personnel. Visitors must sign in and show proper documentation.
    • Rainbow Elementary has a Safety Committee which is made up of faculty and staff members along with a parent representative. School crisis plans are discussed. Collaboration with local first responders is essential to the process.
    • We have monthly safety drills to ensure faculty, staff, and students are adequately prepared in any event, such as fire, severe weather, or intruders.
    • The local school and district provide ongoing professional development training on innovative measures to ensure student safety.
    • Our front office staff is trained and has great attention to detail when it comes to court documentation on visitation rights.
    • There are outdoor and indoor cameras throughout the campus. In addition to all hallways, this includes locations such as playground, gymnasium, and cafeteria. These cameras have updated, zooming capabilities.
    • Each grade level chairperson has a handheld radio. This is to ensure quick communication in the event of any emergency. These radios are taken with teachers during the transportation of students throughout our campus. This includes our fenced in playground for recess and the outdoor areas for PE.
    • The Remind app allows instant communication with faculty and staff along with parents. This allows direct communication to phones via text messages.
    • Window curtains are used for each room in the building to ensure that no one can see through the window into a room during the event of a lockout or lock down situation.
    • Our school contains carbon monoxide detectors throughout the building.
    • Mandatory reporting training is required for all faculty and staff each school year.
