Jean Fontaine

DIRECTOR OF SPEICAL EDUCATION

Jean Fontaine began her career with Ludlow Public Schools on January 3, 2023, when she was appointed as the Director of Special Education for the district.

Prior to joining the Ludlow Schools, she worked as a central office administrator, building administrator, special education supervisor and special education teacher for Longmeadow Public Schools in Longmeadow, Massachusetts.


Ms. Fontaine earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Masters in Special Education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  She later earned a  Master’s degree in Reading from Westfield State University. Recently in December of 2022, she earned the Transition Specialist endorsement through Cambridge College. 


Jean has spent the last three decades advocating for children in various capacities in the public school setting. She believes that all children can reach their potential when they receive high-quality instruction and support services. She enjoys partnering with staff and families to help students reach positive outcomes.


Ms. Fontaine is married to her husband Bill, and together, they are the proud parents of two adult children, Nick and Allyson.
