    Flag of Falun Gong

    [edit]
    Article(s)
    Falun Gong
    Request
Hi! Today I'm asking for someone to kindly vectorize the flag of the new religious movement Falun Gong. The flag can be seen here https://www.fotw.info/flags/cn_falun.html. The flag taller than wide and has a light-blue background. The logo of Falun Gong is near the center of the flag but is slightly closer to the top. Below the logo, and further to the bottom to the top, are three Chinese characters that make up the group's motto and below them, the translations of those characters. On the left is the character "真" and below it is the translation "Truthfulness". In the middle is the character "善" and below it "Benevolence". On the right, the character "忍" and below it, "Forbearance". Can someone please do it? I'll be grateful to see it done. Thanks in advance! -- 109.77.208.221 (talk) 20:05, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't their flag; a quick search shows they use a variety of flags and banners, primarily at demonstrations. What you're showing is based on a photo from a reporter from 2000. Currently, I see a variety of flags, mostly in the traditional Chinese style (colored triangles with sharp edges) and full of various inscriptions. I can create this graphic, but I don't see a use for it. If you're interested, look for something more standard. Swiãtopôłk (talk) 19:30, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok then. You can do the flag if you like. I just took this request from a list made by User:Germenfer of flags needing vectorization by found by clicking here. I was just trying to take some off the list. Thanks for reading!!! --51.37.55.11 (talk) 15:44, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Correction for cellular respiration pathway equation

    [edit]
    Article(s)
    Cellular respiration
    Request
The red box at the bottom right below the mitochondrion says "6 H2O", which might be confusing especially since the equation is very small and says "½O2 + 2H+ + 2e", when we know that one O2 becomes two H2O. My request is to forego the "½O2" (make it whole), make the "2" protons and electrons into "4" instead (because the electron transport chain already has two "2e"s coming together before this point), and make it so that 6 O2 results into 12 H2O instead of 6. -- CheckNineEight (talk) 05:09, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What about other multipliers e.g. for ATP, Pyruvic acid and CO2. Do other items e.g. glucose and acetyle need multipliers introduced? cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 12:07, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good catch! The whole thing is for one glucose, so it's good as is. "Acetic acid" should rather be "Acetate", and it is 2x – same goes for Acetyl CoA. And "Pyruvic acid" should actually be "Pyruvate". So, from one pyruvate to a complete citric acid cycle, that gives off 3 CO2; there's two of them in the diagram, so that equals 6. CheckNineEight (talk) 12:32, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If so, as a layperson, having a number before unfamiliar terms like "Acetyl CoA" might cause me to think that there's a substance named "2 Acetyl CoA", like "2-propanol". As such, I think the current multipliers are clearer. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 14:05, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. (And, I mean, the original already has "2 pyruvate" in it; and I doubt that confusion can happen, because there's no hyphen between the number and the word.) How about using "(2x)" in parentheses and an X or a multiply symbol, placed either before or after the substance name? That, or it was probably meant to be interpreted as taking from one pyruvate anyway, but then "6 CO2" wouldn't make sense in that case. CheckNineEight (talk) 15:01, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the 2 pyruvate might also mislead (I suppose having 2 arrows pointing to it alleviates it a bit). I don't know of a good solution. "(2x)" would lead to inconsistencies with H2O etc and having it on all might be excessive. Perhaps a question for Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Science? cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 22:53, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think two arrows should do it. CheckNineEight (talk) 23:05, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I mean it's not that complicated. Do we really need to go to the reference desk? It's a straightforward thing to resolve. Just double the arrows between "pyruvic acid", "acetic acid" and citric acid cycle; or better yet, let's just stick to the original plan of just correcting "6 H2O" into "12 H2O" and changing the equation (½O2 + 2H+ + 2e) accordingly. CheckNineEight (talk) 00:06, 30 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The labels must be consistent. We can't change just one part and leave other multipliers which matter.
There's also a mix of processes (glycolysis and citric acid cycle) and substances (glucose, NADH, FADH2 and acidic acid). Wouldn't the latter now require a multiplier of 2? cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 14:02, 31 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late response here, I got distracted and immediately procrastinated. Like I said before, the whole diagram is for 1 glucose, so it shouldn't get a multiplier. The ATP outputs are accurate (2 each from glycolysis and citric acid cycle). Glycolysis also makes 2 NADH, oxidation of pyruvate into acetate in this case makes 2 (1 ×2) and citric acid cycle in this case makes 6 (3 × 2); in total, that makes 10. FADH2 is not produced anywhere in the cycle because that's actually a cofactor of Complex II (which is implied or vaguely depicted in the electron transport chain); this should actually be ubiquinol, and in this case 2 (1 × 2) is made here. Both NADH and ubiquinol carry 2e each, totalling 24e. O2 input remains the same (24÷4=6), and that converts to 12 H2O (6×2=12).
    TLDR
    • 10 NADH
    • FADH2 2 Ubiquinol
    • 2 pyruvic acid 2 pyruvates
    • acetic acid 2 acetates
    • 12 H2O (from 6 O2 + 24e + 24H+)

Salts (ie. Salt Cellars as an heraldic charge) - the Salters' Company

    [edit]
    Article(s)
    Worshipful Company of Salters
    Request
my request concerns the Salters' Company coat of arms. Wiki boasts such an impressive range of heraldic images, including those of most City livery companies.. If the escutcheon of the Salters' Company could be retouched I should be much obliged. The present illustration, although adequate, falls a little short of the quality of Wiki's arms of the other Great Twelve City Livery Companies.
The issue, I venture to suggest, is how to digitally create the principal charges of Salt Cellars as depicted in the Salters' arms... I've scoured Wiki and can't seem to find any existing representations of such Salts (aka Salt Cellars) which might be of help.
I append here, the blazon for the sake of good order as well as some other images of the Salters' arms for guidance...

@Primm1234: I don't really understand what you are looking for.

    • "If the escutcheon of the Salters' Company could be retouched", retouched to look like what?
    • "how to digitally create the principal charges of Salt Cellars as depicted in the Salters' arms", like in SaltersCompany Arms, but that we have already. Are you looking for a 3D svg looking like a photo or what. Please be specific and not a lot of info we don't need, we just need to know what you want, thanks. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 14:51, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Goran tek-en: many thanks for getting back to me & for offering to help.
The Salters' arms @ SaltersCompany Arms
is satisfactory although not quite in the same league quality-wise as Wiki's heraldic images for the other Great Twelve City Livery Companies.
Could you retouch this escutcheon with tinctures more closely resembling the slightly darker shade of Azure and Gules as depicted @ or https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/Salters%27_Company or https://www.cia.org.uk/ciaawards/awards..?
Also would it be possible to create the Salt Cellars so as to look like the middle example of a Salt as an heraldic charge @ https://heraldicart.org/saltcellar?
Much obliged for any assistance accordingly & looking forward to hearing. Best Primm1234 (talk) 20:39, 18 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Primm1234: Thanks for info, I think I have a better idea now of what you want.

    • The salt coming out of the cellar, should it be more uneven like the last here or round like the middle?
    • To me, the uneven, the middle look like pearls. But i's actually wrong because the salt would not come out standing up, you would have to tilt it/shake it... --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 10:52, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Goran tek-en: you are a superstar to take this on as I can see it's not the easiest thing to get right.
There's a quite lot of leeway in heraldry as to the visual appearance & I agree with your comments above... Given such artistic licence, my overriding thoughts are that the Salt Cellars should try (as much as is feasible) to look a bit "antiquey" (ie. not too modern or computer-generated, if poss!)...
The Goldsmiths' arms: perhaps offer some idea of the colour scheme & finish..?
Many thanks indeed - no doubt, more soon!

Hi! I was wondering if someone can kindly please vectorize the flag of the Dutch village of Uffelte? I have also included the flag of Achterhoek to use as a possible base so this request can be done more quickly. Thanks in advance!!! -- 109.79.193.194 (talk) 18:36, 17 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Terrain following radar

The basic concept of terrain-following radar is somewhat difficult to grasp when described in text, but rather easy in diagram form. Essentially there are two parts, the terrain itself, and a smooth curved line generated by electronics in the radar. The two are overlayed and subtracted from each other. The result is a new curve that represents the difference between the two curves. The electronics then look for the point where that differences is the greatest, positive or negative, and adjusts the flight path.
There is a not-very-good diagram found here (hope that links works) that shows a sample terrain curve, but that doesn't show the second curve. The only image of that I found was here, which shows the curve, marked "3", if you look for "Zero Command Line" in the page. The curved below that, 1 and 2, shows the original radar signal (not really useful here) and the resulting terrain curve - the radar can't see through hills so valleys show up as nothing. In this particular image, the synthetic video, which represents the terrain, is always below the zero line, meaning this aircraft does not have to do anything. For the illustration, the synthetic line should intersect the zero line at some point, so we can explain that it has to maneuver by that amount to avoid it.
Ideally I'd like two images the same size, one showing the real terrain like in the first link, and the "ski ramp" curve superimposed on it. The second would show the resulting difference signal, and indicate the maximum and minimum points.
