Public Notice
Sealed bids will be received by the Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board of Education as provided in this notice for the Cosmetology HVAC and Dust Collector Project. Questions may be directed to Russell Gayheart, at [email protected] and electronic copies of the Contract Documents, which include additional details, are on file and available for purchase from SE Blueprint Inc., 2035 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114 (216-241-2250).

Bids shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Lorain County JVS Board of Education, ATTN: Jerry Pavlik, Deputy Superintendent, 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074, and plainly marked on the outside "COSMETOLOGY HVAC AND DUST COLLECTOR PROJECT BID". Bids will be received until 2:30 p.m., local time April 10, 2025 and immediately after the deadline the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Superintendent’s Office Board Room located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

A pre-bid conference will be held on April 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. with a site visit to immediately follow at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

All bids must include a Bid Guaranty, as described in the Instructions to Bidders. Prevailing wage rates do not apply. No bidder may withdraw its bid within 60 days after the opening; the Board reserves the right to waive irregularities, reject any or all bids, and conduct necessary investigations to determine bidder responsibility.

Program Description
Repair and maintain gasoline and diesel systems that power items such as agricultural equipment, bulldozers, cranes, and forklifts. Small engine repair, such as lawn and garden tractors and recreational equipment, is also covered.

College Credits
Agreements with many colleges/universities help students, who meet established criteria, earn college credit for courses taken at the Lorain County JVS.  These credits can be transferred to the respective institution.  Potential college credits for Industrial Equipment Mechanics students are listed below.  Credits listed are semester hours.

University of Northwestern Ohio: 3 Credits

Math, English, Social Studies and other courses that offer dual high school and college credits are also offered on the JVS campus through partnerships with Lorain County Community College and Oberlin College. Upon meeting specific criteria, students have the opportunity to earn various types of college credit for career technical courses taken at Lorain County JVS. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Ohio’s College Credit Plus program. College credit opportunities vary by program and are subject to change.

Student Organizations
Students are encouraged to become involved with the career-technical student organizations related to their programs, such as SkillsUSA. These organizations help develop leadership skills, cooperation, social interactions, and good citizenship. All members have opportunities to participate in regional, state, and national competitions to showcase their skills and earn college scholarships. Students who excel academically and have a commitment to community service may become a member of the National-Technical Honor Society.

Strong partnerships between LCJVS and business and industry help students gain work experience through work-based learning experiences, the JVS Summer Internship Program, and senior early job placement. LCJVS is committed to helping successful graduates find employment in their career field.
