Sealed bids will be received by the Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board of Education as provided in this notice for the Cosmetology HVAC and Dust Collector Project. Questions may be directed to Russell Gayheart, at [email protected] and electronic copies of the Contract Documents, which include additional details, are on file and available for purchase from SE Blueprint Inc., 2035 Hamilton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114 (216-241-2250).

Bids shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Lorain County JVS Board of Education, ATTN: Jerry Pavlik, Deputy Superintendent, 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074, and plainly marked on the outside "COSMETOLOGY HVAC AND DUST COLLECTOR PROJECT BID". Bids will be received until 2:30 p.m., local time April 10, 2025 and immediately after the deadline the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Superintendent’s Office Board Room located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

A pre-bid conference will be held on April 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. with a site visit to immediately follow at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School located at 15181 State Route 58, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

All bids must include a Bid Guaranty, as described in the Instructions to Bidders. Prevailing wage rates do not apply. No bidder may withdraw its bid within 60 days after the opening; the Board reserves the right to waive irregularities, reject any or all bids, and conduct necessary investigations to determine bidder responsibility.

Program Description

The Career Readiness Program is designed for 9th-grade students who would excel in a hands-on career-based high school experience.

As a high school freshman, you begin to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for acceptance into our junior and senior programs. You spend four quarters in the Career Readiness program learning appropriate safety procedures, using different types of equipment, obtaining skills, and using projects and career modules to help you focus on a successful program choice for your junior year.

Placement is based on the program selections from your Lorain County JVS application and current availability. 

Students qualified to enroll in this program are:

  • Freshmen
  • 14 years old
  • Have 0 to 3 high school credits

To be considered for this program a student must have:

  • A school counselor recommendation
  • A Lorain County JVS application on file

Upon completion of the Career Readiness Program, you can apply to the 10th-grade Career Exploration Program and continue your journey with Lorain County JVS!

Students also have the opportunity to complete 1/2 credit in Physical Education and 1/2 credit of Health.

Program Fees
There are no tool kit or student fees associated with this program.

Employment Resources
Strong partnerships between the JVS and business and industry help students gain work experience through work-based learning experiences, the JVS Summer Internship Program, and senior early job placement. The JVS is committed to helping successful graduates find employment in their career field. A detailed explanation of the student eligibility requirements for these experiences is included in the student handbook.

The JVS maintains an online job board to help connect students and alumni to local employment opportunities. The JVS website also hosts links to online resources for labor market data, as well as statewide and national career information
